Like many other runners I know, I have two to three set running routes that I like to run repeatedly. My favorite runs always take me away from the road, cars and if possible – near to water. For me staying static on a treadmill is a waste of time.

Jessie J Stepping in the Right Direction following Ankle Surgery
Brit singer Jessie J continues to be spotted out and about wearing her customised SP Walker since suffering a broken ankle earlier this summer. The pop star took to wearing the Aircast SP Walker after taking a tumble during a rehearsal in June. She was originally thought to have only sprained her ankle but tests later revealed a more serious injury.

Stumble and a crack, there goes my ankle again…
So on the 20th of August I was scouring the front room for my car keys. After spending literally an eternity, I realised they were more than likely where I always leave them which is on top of the cabinet by the door. Standing on the chair I finally find them sat on top of a couple of DVDs. I grab them and step down off the chair onto the notoriously wobbly floor board.
IT Band Knee Injury Pain while Cycling to Work
After swapping my very ‘thirsty’ Ford Galaxy 2.3 petrol car with my GT Mountain Bike for my daily commute to work, I was initially delighted with my daily saving of ø from my wallet and 2 pounds from my waistline!

Who’s Using What
If anyone knows the value of a good healing aid it’s a professional sports player. Almost every week an athlete is spotted sporting something we at PhysioRoom.com are proud to stock.
Here’s are just a few well known faces we’ve seen…
Sprained Ankle Update
As I recovered from my sprained ankle, I gradually reduced the wearing of an ankle support, until I wasnִ wearing it at all for speed sessions on the road and gentle training runs off road, but was not sufficiently confident to leave my ankle unsupported during longer or harder training sessions on the fells.

So then here we are again, 3 weeks since my last post but, am I 3 weeks fitter?? Hmmmmɠhard to say, but I doubt it ɠYou see, I֭ like a classic car in a way, wrapped up from the cold throughout the winter, stored in a nice warm protective environment scared to leave in case the best of the British weather chips away at my elegantly defined paint work and clogs my engine with the gritty remnants of an ice cold winter to forget. My knees hurt, my lips practically fall to bits and the whole experience is unpleasant to say the least. However, the tide is a turning and with it comes a new dawn, a new found surge of energy and enthusiasm; and like my faithful Red Jaguar 1971 E Type, I֭ out of the blocks spitting and spluttering along. Slowly but surely I֭ dragging my body kicking and screaming out of the doldrums into an athleteֳ world.
Rick Plans a Skiing Holiday
I’m due to embark on a skiing holiday with four friends to La Plagne in the French Alps. We booked the trip by scrolling through various online travel websites one night to find the best deal out there. To be honest it took us almost all night to find a good deal and settled with one we found on for 7 nights with transport and ski passes for the week included.
Treating the Most Common Sports Injury: A Sprained Ankle
Although I celebrated my 60th birthday in 2010, I am still active and competitive, these days concentrating mainly on running and cycling. To mark my birthday, I completed three big challenges:
-
- Ran the Pendle Way, a local long-distance footpath (43 miles) in 9 hours;
- Completed the Joss Naylor Lakeland Challenge (47 miles) in 14 hours;
- Cycled from Coniston to Interlaken (1,000 miles in 10 days) to take part in the Jungfrau Marathon, which I completed in 4hours 11 minutes.
